The forthcoming album of Ms.Diana Ross has been recently announced by the singer herself and although she said that it might not be out until late next year, fans speculations have already started.
The lead singer of The Supremes opened this year performing in Las Vegas in nine-nights engagement following by an appearance at the Grammys. On March 26, Ross celebrated her 75th birthday with a special show in Los Angeles, California at the Hollywood Palladium.
It was during one of the concerts of her Vegas residency that Ms.Ross was asked if she was planning to release a new album – It was 12 years ago that I Love You, her last studio album was released – and she simply said “Yes!”. She opened up about the brand new project several times in the last months during her performances.
What do we know about the new album so far?
Mainly, It is almost a fact that Mark Ronson will produce at least a few songs of it. Some tracks are being written by the singer’s children, especially Evan Ross and his wife Ashlee Simpson who released an EP late last year. No sad songs will be included according to Ms.Ross. She also mentioned that it would be great if she had a song written or produced by her friend and partner from Motown Records, Stevie Wonder. But that is unlikely to happen due to Wonder’s health condition.
About the title of the album, there’s no information available. But there’s one thing that we all are sure of. The last thing fans want is to know that I Still Love You is the name of the album. Not only because fans want brand new material but also because they want music that expresses the way the singer feels today.
Ms.Ross is now performing in Las Vegas until late this month and she won’t be back on stage until January 2020. In September, she is starting to work in the upcoming album fully. Next year marks the 50th anniversary of her debut album titled Diana Ross, so we can expect something special.
Releasing an album not only means record the songs but also promote them, that´s why it´s a fact that Ross is going to appear on television and, why not?, she might do a world tour. Bear in mind that this is her first album to be released during the streaming era.
Anyway, whatever the new album brings it will be well received by fans!
